Perhaps we will live to see the time when the concept of what it is to be human will be as fuzzy as the concept of what is art today.
Just as the poet denies the "art" of the painter who imitates nature on his canvas, so the artist cannot accept that photographers are creating art. Or at least the photographer's art stands lower than the canvas artist's art.
The artist has invested years to develop his technique, and creates each piece with a proven pow of weeks, months, and sometimes years. Today the photographer has paid several thousand dollars and creates an image using a machine assembled by workers and technology invented by others. The photographer is there to see the moment and push the button, but with time the photography has risen to the stage of the arts.
With the arrival of the computer age and digital editing programs, art has become an even broader concept. You may not know how to get orange or green color, you may not have picked up a brush in your life and you may not know what you dilute oil paint with, but you can be a successful digital artist.
We are now in the early stages of developing so-called AI artists. With the boom of artificial intelligence, humans can generate images in seconds that are unimaginable to even the best artists of the past and present. They use an instrument, just as a painter uses his brush, a photographer his camera, and a digital artist simply software. Art is reaching its ultimate limit of development. It has moved so far away from the man that it is no longer clear exactly how much of the end result is the work of human intervention. Art, at its core, is part of the human experience. Art is intrinsically human. When we blur the concept of art, we blur the idea of the human. If we go back 10 years, there were only two genders. Children being born today are born on a planet with over 30 genders. The fourth industrial revolution is knocking at the door. The first sign of the transition happens in the art. We are on the cusp of transhumanism and artificial intelligence is a major part of it.
